How and with what success did the black SAs resist aparthed essays

How and with what success did the black SAs resist aparthed essays How and with what success did the black SAs resist the Gov Policy of Apartheid in the peiriod 1948-76?(Boycotts, alliances among black orgsanisations and groups ,Non violent and violent protests and strikes) During the peiriod 1948-1976 South African blacks resisted the Apartheid policies of the NP by boycotts strikes, Violent and non violent protests. These mass movements were highly successfull in many ways. The early non-violent strikes triggered international awareness and brought blacks from all backgrounds into organised politics. The later part of the struggle culminated in the fall of aparthied in 1990, therefore ressistance during this period has to be seen as highly successful. The coming to power of Malans apartheid government stimulated a shift in the ANC to firstly more millatant ressastance as well as a united struggle between all races( as shown by the the Doctors pact between Naiker , Xumz and Dadoo). In December 1949, with the support of the ANC Youth League, a new leadership came to power in the ANC. Walter Sisulu was elected secretary-general and a number of Youth Leaguers were elected to the national executive. In 1949 the Programme of Action(POA) was drafted by the ANC youth league. The programme claimed the right to self-determinattion for all africans as well as rejecting white dominance but most importantly it called for mass boycotts, strikes and civil disobediance and to raise consouness for the struggle via propganda. The first major mass action of the POA was the May day strike of 1950 which called for a major stayaway, 70% of workers stayed home and this led to a stop in industry, although it was peacefull during the day at night cops killed 13 people in a townships. Thus a National Day Of Protest and Mourning was called for the 16th june due to these deaths and in protest to the Unlawful Organisations Bill. This day was a major sucess as it stopped the bill from being pas...

Murder and manslaughter Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2500 words - 1

Murder and manslaughter - Essay Example or in the event that the offender causes death in the process of carrying out an illegal act.2 According to Sir Edward Coke, murder is applied where a person of sound memory and age unlawfully kills in any country another human being under King’s peace with malice, which is premeditated as expressed by the party or implied by the law such that the wounded person dies within an year and a day out of the same. 3 To conclude that the person should be held under actus reus, there first of all has to be unlawful killing and the act of the offender must have been the established cause of death of the victim.4 The killing must be of another human being and under queen’s peace which means stipulates that killing of an enemy in war is not murder. However, the death after an year and day was removed in the law reform act of 1996.5 Under this, there is the malice afterthought. In R v Moloney (1985), the House of Lords concluded that nothing less than the intention to kill or cause bodily harm would be seen as malice afterthought. Just foreseeing the death of a victim as probable was not sufficient. There are two things to be considered under Mens Rea, first the intention to kill where murder is identified as a crime of specific intent.6 The intent in this case could be direct or oblique. In direct intent, the offender desired the death. In oblique, the death is foreseen by the offender as virtually certain, however, not desired for its own sake. Secondly, the intention to cause grievous bodily harm which was accepted under as sufficient mens rea for murder since if the offender was willing to inflict serious body harm, then he had no way of knowing certainly knowing the victim will not die. Intentional body harm is evidence that a victim could die. 7 In the case of Anthony the political activist who set up bombs in order to get attention for what he was lobbying against, genetically modified crops, a couple of considerations can be identified in this case. First, in

Leadership Style Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words

Leadership Style - Essay Example In transformational leadership, one individual take control and make the group reach to its collective goals. In transformational leadership, leader creates a shared vision and all those who follow him succeed in the context of achieving long-term objectives. There are four different components of transformational leadership. In this style of leadership, leader motivates each individual follower to perform up to his potential. He councils each follower, provide guidelines and monitor his performances. Leader communicates openly in this style and share ideas freely with the followers. It is obvious that bringing a turnaround in the company, motivating people becoming a role model for followers are source of the prominent benefits of transformational leadership. In addition, the convincing style of leadership, leader acting as role model and sharing a common vision are the positives upon which every organization would went to thrive. It is also a fact that every individual to different to another individual and leaders care for individual also helps a great deal in guiding the organization on the path of success (McCrimmon, 2008). Most prominent example of transformational leadership is of Sam Walton, who uses to visit all Wal-Mart stores across the United Sates and meet all the associates and executives of the company. He always encourages managers and professional to share their ideas in an open and frank manner. Apart from sharing the ideas, he always praised them and appreciated them for the good work they were producing. One can positively conclude that effective transformational leadership results in high performance and achievement of company objectives, beyond expectations (Hall et al, 2002). However, critics have repeatedly pointed out that in transformational leadership, styles become more important than the substance. It should be the other way around substance should enjoy more value than the personality. Conclusively, the paper has discussed

Shortage of Nurses in Ashford General Hospital Essay

Shortage of Nurses in Ashford General Hospital - Essay Example Moreover, Ashford Hospital together with the other affected hospitals can work together with the universities and colleges so that the student under training can help the existing nurses in the hospitals. Besides, in satisfying the shortage of the nurses, these hospitals should properly reward their nurses so as to act as motivation for the students who are willing to join the profession. It is also the duty of the human resource manager maintain age diversity in the hospitals, for instance, staff should be made of people of different ages so that when a certain group is retiring then there is new blood in the system (Nottingham, et al, 2012). Moreover, proper leadership should also be implemented so as to take care of the welfare of the nurses. In this light, cultural diversity is important because patients can feel that they are well represented. Lastly proper record keeping in the hospital is another fundamental idea that can help curb the shortage of the nurses. Record keeping en hances transparency in work, and resource management will be liable responsible for all the activities that are taking place in the hospitals.IntroductionSeveral Hospitals are victims of nurses’ shortage until the issue has become a national concern in the United States of America. The shortage does affect not only the patients, but also the administration, physicians, nurses and many other stakeholders in the system. In this paper, I have dealt with various factors that lead to the shortage of nurses in different hospitals.

The Project plan Time Management Project Futuristic Aspect The success of any project is based on few parameters which portrays the efficiency of the project in terms of the objective achieved and sets bench marks for the future project undertaking The followings are very important from the project efficiency point of view Return of Investment Net Present Value Break Even Point The calculations of the above are as follows with respect to the project Return of Investment (ROI) Net Present Value Return of Investment is a performance measure used to evaluate the efficiency of an investment or to compare the efficiency of a number of different investments with respect to a project. To calculate ROI, the benefit (return) of an investment is divided by the cost of the investment; the result is expressed as a percentage or a ratio ROI = Gain from Investment Cost of Investment __________________________________ Cost of Investment Net Present Value or NPV is used to decide financial viability of an investment. The difference between the present value of cash inflows and the present value of cash outflows. NPV is used in capital budgeting to analyse the profitability of an investment or project. Here the NPV and ROI are calculated. The following tables show you the NPV and ROI value. The Project cost and the profit for next five years is as follow. A 30% growth is assumed for our calculation Taking the above The return on investment formula: ROI = Gain from Investment Cost of Investment __________________________________ Cost of Investment ROI = 10,82,725 554,000 - 554,000 = 1.21 Return on investment is a very popular metric because of its versatility and simplicity. That is, if an investment does not have a positive ROI, or if there are other opportunities with a higher ROI, then the investment should be not be undertaken Break Even Point for the First year First year Sales  £1, 75,000 First year Cost (Direct + indirect)  £50,000 Yearly Net Cash Flow Cumulative Net Cash Flow = Yearly Net Cash Flow  £1,75,000  £50,000 = 1,75,000 = 0.79 BEP (1 year) Payback Period: The cumulative cash flow curves above show roughly the point in time when the cumulative cash flow breaks even, that is, when cumulative incoming returns exactly balance cumulative outflows. This point in time (point on the horizontal axis) is Payback period .The payback period is 1 years RISK ASSESSMENT The Risk assessment and the mitigation measure are very important for smooth completion of the project. The Risk assessment phase is carried out at the initial planning phase of the project .The risk assessment need to be continuously monitored and updated throughout the life of the project INITIAL PROJECT RISK ASSESSMENT CONTROL PLAN Requirements Control Plan When changes are to be made in the requirements after the project plan has been released, the changes shall be brought to the attention of the committee and discussed. Any changes that are to be made will be with the prior approval of the committee and only if feasible and permissible within the constraints of the project mentioned Schedule Control Plan If the work scheduled gets behind, the stake holder is ready to spend extra time on the project in between and after the schedules and also to make up for the lost time and deliver the final project on time. Budget Control Plan Any changes to the budget need to be updated to the management committee Quality Control Plan The Project Manager will be assessing the quality of work for each of teh stake holder and will ensure that the required level of quality is achieved in the given time frame Closeout Plan All the details about the post-mortem debriefings, report on the lessons learnt, project objectives and the milestones achieved would be mentioned as part of the Project documentation at the end of the project. The analysis and the lessons learnt will be used for future project success.

Biblical References in Grapes of Wrath Essay -- essays research papers

In his novel Grapes of Wrath, John Steinbeck integrated many biblical references and values throughout the book. This provided a more intriguing and complex style of writing that he used to tell about the Dust Bowl of the early 1900’s and the arduous journey the Joad family and many others took to reach California. The first biblical reference is revealed when the Joad family leaves for California. â€Å"the rest swarmed up on top of the load, Connie and Rose of Sharon, Pa and Uncle John, Ruthie and Winfield, Tom and the preacher. Noah stood on the ground, looking up at the great load of them sitting on top of the truck (Steinbeck 113)† This passage relates to the loading of animals into Noah’s Ark in Genesis 7:15 where it is written that the animals went into the ark in pairs. In the book, Steinbeck uses the truck to represent the ark while the family represents the animals going into the ark two by two. Although it is depicted in the Bible that the animals went in as couples, male and female, there were not enough female characters for Steinbeck to be able to have them get into the truck in couples. Steinbeck might have made Noah’s name Noah for this purpose to give an allusion that this passage was to mirror the act of Noah’s Ark. The second reference to Noah’s Ark is revealed near the end of the novel. â€Å"The rain began in gusty showers†¦for two days the earth drank the rain, until the earth was full†¦the rain beat on steadily†¦level fields became lakes†¦streams broke†¦and spread out over the country (Steinbeck 432-434).† This passage illustrates the great rain that comes to California and floods the valleys and over the fields. It floods the tents and homes of the Okies and causes them to move elsewhere to find shelter from the rain... ...till-born baby. The image when Uncle John floats the dead baby down the flooded steam is a reference to baby Moses when he is places into the Nile in a basket. Both babies were sent off into the world with the same message in mind, to tell of the plight of the people, which for the Joad’s was the harsh living conditions and lack of food and home, while for the Israelites was the inhumane murder of their baby boys. â€Å"‘Go down an’ tell em’. Go down in the street an’ rot an’ tell em’ that way. That’s the way you can talk’ (Steinbeck 448).† Steinbeck uses biblical allusions and references throughout his novel, from the very beginning to the climax and the end. The novel becomes a more meaningful and complex book with the use of these allusions and causes it to relate more and more with the Great Depression where many problems with authorities and social problems arose. What Family Family Means to Me

Abstract Family is important as it is also important to have a happy family. We might think at times what makes a happy family? Is there such a thing as a happy family? Or is it possible to have a happy family. Having a happy family as we all might know is not an easy task to do, but it is neither impossible. What we can do is search for element to guide us through a happy family. I understand that no one is perfect therefore; there is no perfect happy family. We will learn that a happy family is unique and different from other happy families since we are all different human beings. What Makes Up a Happy Family Is There Such A Thing? â€Å"All happy families are alike; each unhappy family is unhappy in its own way. † (Sokolik, 2010) There is a question that at some point in life a family member may ask themselves is there such a thing as a happy family, or what the elements are in order to have a happy family. Every family is happy in a unique way, there is no such a thing to b e a one hundred percent happy family with no problems what so ever. Every family has problems whether they are marriage problems or problems with their children. They also share sadness, happiness, love, freedom and many more emotions at the same time; otherwise it would not be a happy family. â€Å"In happy families, family comes before friends. The camp counselor understands something that parents don’t and that is that caring for kids also has to be fun. Give rules, but understand that kids need fun, too. When kids get bored and listless, they start looking for excitement out of the home and that is when friends become more important. Friendship is important but subordinate to family. (Mann, 2012) Therefore we should not let our children become bored of us and look for their friends. We must save the future conflicts and try to have the most possible fun with our children so they don’t get bored of us and enjoy being with us their parents, their family. References A gnes, M. Themes in Night by Elie Wiesel Essays

Themes in Night by Elie Wiesel Essays Themes in Night by Elie Wiesel Paper Themes in Night by Elie Wiesel Paper The three main themes in the book Night, are inhumanity, faith, and the father/son bond. Inhumanity is a major part of what happened in the book Night. Everyone who was a victim was not treated fairly whatsoever. The book talks a lot about how the Nazis killed tons of people and were very cruel towards them all the time. The Nazis sent everyone to concentration camps, some were death camps and others were labor camps. In the camps if you were sick or ill the Nazis would most likely kill you. They had many ways of killing people such as gassing them, shooting them, working them to death, not giving them enough food or water, etc. â€Å"Babies were thrown into the air and the machine gunners used them as targets.† I find this quote from the book very disturbing. I don’t see how someone could kill innocent people. To get to the concentration camps they had to take a train. The conditions of the train were very bad it was really crowded, they had to stand in their own feces, some even died before they made it to the camps. The Nazis spilt up families. They separated the boys and the girls. You couldn’t see them anymore unless you were the same gender. A lot of people never got to see their family again. The Nazis were very inhumane towards the Jews and did not care or think about what they were doing. Elie and his father’s bond is another major part in the story. Since Elie was spilt up from his mother and sisters all he had was his dad. Also since he was a kid still and terrified of what was happening he wanted to always be with his father. Even from the beginning of the story before everything happened they were still very close. They were usually always by each others side during it all, they would make sure the other was okay. They would share food or water if the other needed it. They constantly were talking like everything was okay. â€Å"Please I would have liked to be by my father.†

All 19 KFC Menu Items, Reviewed

All 19 KFC Menu Items, Reviewed SAT / ACT Prep Online Guides and Tips KFC, formerly Kentucky Fried Chicken, is the world's second largest restaurant chain by sales behind only McDonald's. It's become synonymous with fast-food fried chicken, but it offers additional options for the fast-food consumer. In this article, I'll go through every item on KFC's menu. I'll provide all the relevant information and guidance to help you decide what to eat at KFC. As a fast-food connoisseur, I've sacrificed my arteries and blood pressure to help you enjoy some finger lickin' good treats. KFC Menu Items I'll take you through the entire KFC menu and educate you about all of KFC's offerings. For each item I’ll provide the following information: Cost Rating (0-5 drumsticks) Description Review Nutritional Content Keep in mind that prices and menu items can vary based on location. Based on your priorities, use the information I've given to guide your KFC order. Furthermore, I’ve separated the menu items into different categories: Chicken Sandwiches Specialty Items Sides Desserts Sauces KFC Chicken Items Here are all the different types of chicken you can consume compliments of the Colonel. The smaller portions of chicken (2 pieces) are served as combo meals (with sides and a medium drink). You can look below for the details about the various combo meals. Original Recipe Description: The fried chicken that put KFC on the map. As its name indicates, this is the original fried chicken. It’s made with a â€Å"secret blend of herbs and spices. Cost: 8 pieces: $14.99, 12 pieces: $20,49, 16 pieces: $24.99 Rating: 3 drumsticks Review: KFC’s Original Recipe fried chicken is tasty, but it’s not amazing, especially when compared to really good fried chicken. Because it’s rather greasy, the breading is on the soggy side and lacks crunch. However, the flavors are good, thanks to that secret blend of herbs and spices. Nutritional Content: Based on one drumstick Calories Carbs Fat Sodium 120 3 g 7 g 380 mg Extra Crispy Description: It’s the same as the Original Recipe, but it’s double breaded for extra crunch. Cost: 8 pieces: $14.99, 12 pieces: $20.49, 16 pieces $24.99 Rating: 4 drumsticks Review: My favorite part of fried chicken is the fried part, so I enjoy the double breading in the Extra Crispy chicken. Furthermore, the Extra Crispy addresses my main issue with the Original Recipe, which is that the grease makes the breading soggy. The additional breading withstands the grease better, so you can still get some crunch. Great addition to the KFC menu. Nutritional Content: Based on one drumstick Calories Carbs Fat Sodium 160 5 g 10 g 390 mg Grilled Chicken Description: The healthier alternative to the fried chicken. The grilled chicken is marinated, seasoned, and then grilled. Cost: 8 pieces: $14.99, 12 pieces: $20.49, 16 pieces: $24.99 Rating: 2.5 Drumsticks Review: In my world, grilled chicken will never taste better than fried chicken. And the quality of chicken you’re getting from KFC is much more palatable in fried form. However, if you’re looking for a healthy option on KFC's menu, the grilled chicken isn’t all bad. It has some flavor and it’s not as rubbery as I expected. Basically, the grilled chicken can satisfy you, but it won’t make you happy. Nutritional Content: Based on one drumstick Calories Carbs Fat Sodium 90 0 g 4 g 290 mg Popcorn Nuggets Description: The KFC version of chicken nuggets Cost: Popcorn Nuggets Large: $3.99 Rating: 5 Drumsticks Review: If you like chicken nuggets, you’ll undoubtedly be pleased with the popcorn nuggets. Dare I say that KFC offers the best fast-food nugget. The Popcorn Nuggets offer the requisite crunch, the chicken is moist, and the breading to chicken ratio is on point. One of the best on the KFC menu. Nutritional Content: Based on a large serving Calories Carbs Fat Sodium 570 37 g 33 g 1890 mg Extra Crispy Tenders Description: Double breaded strips of chicken breast meat Cost: 3 Pc. $3.99, 6 Pc. $6.99, 12 Pc. $12.99 Rating: 4 Drumsticks Review: If you want your Extra Crispy chicken without having to deal with bones, then this is the option for you. KFC tenders have good crunch, but the chicken with the bone is more moist. However, the delicious breading and the convenience of eating the chicken in boneless form make the Extra Crispy Tenders one of the best items on the KFC menu. And bread is good. These are the sandwiches on the KFC menu. Doublicious Description: A boneless breast of Original Recipe chicken with bacon, Monterey Jack, and Colonel’s sauce on a sweet Hawaiian bun Cost: Doublicious Sandwich Combo (with side and a medium drink): $5.99 Rating: 3 Drumsticks Review: While this sandwich isn’t bad, it’s somewhat unremarkable. It’s like your standard fast-food chicken sandwich. None of the individual ingredients is great, but the sandwich tastes pretty good. The chicken and bacon could use more crisp. The cheese is bland, and the sweet Hawaiian bun isn’t that sweet. The Colonel’s sauce is like a ranch with a bit of a kick. You’ll get more flavor and better chicken from the tenders, popcorn chicken, or Extra Crispy. Nutritional Content: Based on one sandwich Calories Carbs Fat Sodium 580 47 g 29 g 1390 mg Chicken Littles Description: Chicken tenders, pickles, and mayo on a sweet bun Cost: 2 Chicken Littles Combo (with a side and medium drink): $5.19 Rating: 4 Drumsticks Review: The Chicken Littles are pretty simple and pretty spectacular. The chicken in the sandwich is the Extra Crispy Tenders, and the chicken and the pickles provide some nice crunch. The mayo adds some additional flavor. Even though the bread isn’t as sweet as you would expect from a â€Å"sweet bun,† bread is always good. My main complaint with the Chicken Littles are that they’re too small. Nutritional Content: Based on one sandwich Calories Carbs Fat Sodium 310 23 g 18 g 590 mg KFC Specialty Items KFC offers a couple of unique entrees. If you're craving something a little different from just chicken or a chicken sandwich, then here are a couple of options for you. KFC Famous Bowl Description: Mashed potatoes, corn, and chunks of fried chicken layered together and drizzled with gravy. Topped with three types of shredded cheese. Cost: (with chocolate chip cookie and medium drink) $5.00 Rating: 1.5 Drumsticks Review: Call me a traditionalist, but I don’t think all these foods belong in the same bowl. Individually, none of these ingredients is exceptional and I don’t think they all work together. If you want small pieces of fried chicken, you’re better off going with the Popcorn Nuggets and a side dish. On the bright side, having only one bowl with all these items cuts down on waste. So the KFC Famous Bowl may be environmentally friendly even if it’s not taste bud friendly. One of the worst items on the KFC menu. Nutritional Content: Based on an individual serving Calories Carbs Fat Sodium 710 82 g 31 g 2450 mg Pot Pie Description: Chicken, diced potatoes, peas, and carrots covered in a savory sauce and baked in a golden crust Cost: (with chocolate chip cookie and medium drink) $5.00 Rating: 3 Drumsticks Review: The KFC Pot Pie is a small step up from your traditional microwaveable chicken pot pie. The flavors are solid, and you get a well-balanced bite with the flaky crust, rich sauce, chicken, and vegetables. However, I always think you should stick to the staples at any fast-food establishment. If you’re going to indulge in an unhealthy meal at KFC, you’re better off with the fried chicken. Nutritional Content: Based on an individual serving Calories Carbs Fat Sodium 790 66 g 45 g 1970 mg KFC Sides The KFC menu includes more sides than that of your average fast-food restaurant, but only a couple of them are worth ordering. Biscuits Description: Just plain ol’ biscuits Cost: $1.49 Rating: 4.5 Drumsticks Review: If you grew up on homemade biscuits, maybe you won’t love the KFC version, but these are some extremely satisfying fast-food biscuits. They’re flaky, rich, and soft. To me, the KFC biscuits are a perfect complement to the crispy chicken. Nutritional Content: Based on a side order (2 biscuits) Calories Carbs Fat Sodium 180 23 g 8 g 530 mg Seasoned Potato Wedges Description: Thick, fried wedges of potatoes with herbs and spices Cost: Individual: $1.99, Large: 3.79 Rating: 4 Drumsticks Review: The seasoned potato wedges are a nice twist on the typical fast food french fry. The wedges have a nice crunch, and the seasoning gives them some extra flavor. However, they’re a tad on the salty side, so beware if you have a sensitive palate - you might get a lighter option from the KFC sides. Nutritional Content: Based on a side order Calories Carbs Fat Sodium 290 35 g 15 g 810 mg Mac and Cheese Description: Elbow macaroni covered in a cheddar cheese sauce Cost: Individual $1.99, Large $3.79 Rating: 3.5 Drumsticks Review: It’s not the best mac and cheese, but even a bad mac and cheese tastes pretty good. The cheddar sauce could be a little more creamy, but it has a quality cheddar flavor. The macaroni is a good size and texture for mac and cheese. Nutritional Content: Based on an individual side order Calories Carbs Fat Sodium 170 22 g 6 g 830 mg Mashed Potatoes and Gravy Description: Mashed potatoes covered with gravy Cost: Individual $1.99, Large $3.79 Rating: 3 Drumsticks Review: Personally, I like my mashed potatoes more velvety, and the gravy lacks flavor. However, the KFC mashed potatoes and gravy don’t taste bad. You’ll still get some carbs and taste, but your family would probably be upset with you if you brought a KFC side for Thanksgiving dinner. Nutritional Content: Based on an individual side order Calories Carbs Fat Sodium 120 19 g 4 g 530 mg Whole Kernel Corn Description: Sweet yellow corn off the cob and in a bowl Cost: Individual $1.99, Large $3.79 Rating: 2.5 Drumsticks Review: The KFC corn is a much healthier side option, but it doesn’t have much taste or flavor. If you’re just looking for some extra nutrients, then the corn isn’t bad, but it’s not your best option if you want to satisfy your taste buds. Nutritional Content: Based on an individual serving Calories Carbs Fat Sodium 100 21 g 0.5 g 0 mg Coleslaw Description: Coleslaw made with cabbage, carrots, onions, and KFC signature dressing Cost: Individual $1.79, Large $3.79 Rating: 3 Drumsticks Review: The coleslaw is a bit bland, but it offers some nice texture and some vegetables. However, even though you get your fill of vegetables with the cole slaw, the dressing makes it not nearly as healthy as many would assume. In fact, it has more fat than the biscuits or the mac and cheese. Nutritional Content: Based on an individual side Calories Carbs Fat Sodium 170 19 g 10 g 170 mg Green Beans Description: Warm, unseasoned green beans Cost: Individual $1.99, Large $3.79 Rating: 1.5 Drumsticks Review: Like the KFC corn, the green beans give you a healthy option, but they’re lacking in flavor. I can’t imagine a single soul preferring the taste of the green beans to that of the biscuits. But, the texture is fine and the green beans don’t have an unpleasant taste. Just minimal taste. Nutritional Content: Based on an individual side Calories Carbs Fat Sodium 25 4 0 260 mg KFC Desserts KFC only has two dessert options. They’re simple, but KFC has wisely stuck to chocolate desserts that are very hard to mess up. Occasionally, KFC will offer different flavors of cake like lemon and pumpkin, but the chocolate chip cake is the only permanent cake option on all KFC menus. Chocolate-Chip Cookies Description: Chocolate chip cookies baked at KFC Cost: 3 for $1.29, 12 for $4.49 Rating: 4 Drumsticks Review: The KFC cookies are a pleasant surprise. Because they’re baked at the restaurants, you get a warm center that oozes chocolate. They’re relatively light and moist. If you’re looking to truly treat yourself at KFC, get yourself some cookies. Nutritional content: Based on one cookie Calories Carbs Fat Sodium 170 22 g 8 g 90 mg Chocolate Chip Cake Description: A chocolate ring cake with chocolate chips baked inside and drizzled with white confectioner’s frosting Cost: $3.99 Rating: 4.5 Drumsticks Review: The cake is extremely moist. The chocolate chips add richness and the frosting provides some sweetness. I’d prefer the cake with some more chocolate chips, but this cake will satisfy chocolate lovers and those that have a sweet tooth. For me, this is the winner KFC dessert. Nutritional Content: Based on one slice Calories Carbs Fat Sodium 300 39 g 15 g 260 mg KFC Sauces KFC has a variety of sauces you can use to enhance the flavor of your chicken. These are the available sauces at KFC: Finger Lickin’ Good Sauce- A mayonnaise-like sauce that has a little sweet and spice. Summertime BBQ- A bold barbecue sauce with big tomato flavor. Honey Mustard- A sweeter honey mustard sauce. It goes well with the Tenders. Creamy Buffalo- A mix of hot wing sauce and creamy Ranch. I recommend them with the Popcorn Nuggets. Sweet ‘N Tangy- The KFC version of sweet and sour. Buttermilk Ranch- It tastes like a classic Ranch to me. Beverages These are the KFC beverage options and prices. Drink Price Soft Drink: Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, Sierra Mist, Mountain Dew, Diet Mountain Dew, Dr. Pepper, Diet Dr. Pepper, Pepsi MAX Medium $1.69 Soft Drink Large $1.99 Aquafina Water Bottle $1.69 Iced Tea: Sweetened or Unsweetened  ½ Gallon $2.49 Lemonade Medium $1.99 Lemonade  ½ Gallon $3.49 Strawberry Lemonade Medium $2.29 Strawberry Lemonade  ½ Gallon $3.99 KFC Combo Meals One thing that separates KFC from other fast food restaurants is the quantity of combination meals. Not only can you buy individual meals, but you can buy family meals if you want to feed multiple people or you’d like leftovers. Most meals come with at least one side and a medium drink. Here are the various individual combo meal options on the KFC menu. Combo Includes Price Popcorn Nuggets Combo Wedges and Medium Drink $5.49 2 Pc. Entree Includes Price 1 Drumstick, 1 Chicken Little, 1 Tender, or Popcorn Nuggets An Individual Side and Applesauce $3.99 What Should You Order Off the KFC Menu? When deciding what to order at KFC, there are a number of factors to consider to maximize your KFC experience. Here are the questions you need to answer to decide the best KFC food for you: How do you like your chicken? For entrees, KFC just offers different forms of chicken. Do you like your chicken with or without bones? Do you prefer your chicken in tender or nugget form? Do you like your chicken extra crispy or is that too much breading for you? Do you want chicken by itself or do you prefer a chicken sandwich? Answering these questions will lead you to your ideal KFC order. For example, if you want a crispy chicken sandwich, then the Chicken Little would be a good option for you. How hungry are you? At KFC, this is an important question to ask because portion sizes vary tremendously. Consider the size of your appetite when placing your order. Personally, I think a Big Box Meal should do the trick when you’re really hungry. For a normal size meal, any of the combos should satisfy you. If you only want a snack, I’d go with a Chicken Little, Tenders, or Popcorn Nuggets. Are you trying to be healthy? The healthy options aren’t great at KFC, but they exist. For the health-conscious folks, you’re going to want to stick to grilled chicken, green beans, and corn. If you’re with somebody else who’s eating the unhealthy options, you’ll probably be jealous. Are you trying to be economical? If you’re trying to save money, first consider how many people you’re feeding. If you’re feeding a family, you’ll probably save some money by getting a bucket of chicken or a bucket meal as opposed to ordering individual meals for each person. If you’re just getting food for yourself, the $5 Fill Ups offer the best value. Are you eating in the car? If you’re eating while driving, it’s a bit challenging to eat bone-in chicken. You’ll probably have the easiest time with Popcorn Nuggets, Tenders, or a chicken sandwich. In terms of sides, go for ones that don’t require a fork like the Wedges and biscuits. One word of caution: If you’re eating in the car, be careful with the sauces. You don’t want your seats to end up smelling like Ranch.

Analysis of Neoclassical and Romantic Art - Essay Example He mostly worked with historical paintings and portraits. "Portrait of Colonel Guy Johnson" represents the British commissioner of Indian Affairs in the American colony. Next to him is represented a figure with the "peace pipe" in his hand, contrast to the Englishman, holding a gun. In the background we can see a large waterfall, Niagara. In the picture, the figure of the colonel is highlighted, while the aborigine is hidden in the shadow. In this way, the painter contrasts illuminated mind to the civilization located in the darkness of ignorance culture. In general both pictures represent the spirit of â€Å"antiquity†. â€Å""Visions of Antiquity" broadens our understanding of neoclassicism.† (Pagel, D., 1993). The picture of Francisco Goya is definitely a representation of romantic Art. â€Å"In Romantic art, nature—with its uncontrollable power, unpredictability, and potential for cataclysmic extremes—offered an alternative to the ordered world of Enlightenment thought.† (Galitz, K. C., 2000). Comparing two pictures, we can see that they are performed in the same color pattern. The authors mostly use dark background and light items of closing in order to highlight the personalities. In terms of shape, both pictures are presented in two dimensional areas, separating the images of the characters from the surrounding world by the invisible boundaries. Talking about space, the authors used the method of overlap in order to make people on the pictures closer to the viewer. Taking into consideration the art principles, it is necessary to state that the elements of graphic design are expressed in a united and harmonious way. The balance is revealed through the proportional placement of the main elements. The dominance is created by means of the contrasting figures on the first place and the elements behind. Pagel, G.
